But for most jobs where you are not the owner, you need to have at least some kind of post secondary education. Even most Construction jobs require apprenticeships to learn the trade. Likewise, college educated people are not exclusive to Caucasians nor Americans. So please, drop the generalities, otherwise your question and summary comes off as biased and bigoted. As if only South American Latinos know how to build beautiful houses and do other trade work.As for work ethic. Having a degree and gauging work ethic are separate things. You can be a skilled artisan or a master of a trade and still have a crappy work ethic. Likewise, you can have! a college degree and have an outstanding work ethic. The degr! ee means nothing when it comes to work ethic.But, if I were an employer, and two candidates were applying for a job. The person with a Bachelor's Degree is much more of an attractive prospect, and here's why. Finishing with a Bachelor's Degree requires long term commitment, a work ethic necessary to finish the assignments required for a passing grade, and at least above average intelligence. Now, both applicants may have all the same attributes and necessary skills, but the college graduate has already showed me they have this by acquiring a degree.Of course, if they have a terrible academic resume, one where it showed they were absent quite often, handed in assignments late, no professors to vouch for them as references, failed classes, and finished with a low GPA, then I would reconsider them as my first choice.Edit: Your basing this assumption off of one or a handful of observances? Did it ever occur to you that the owners go there to do specialty work or to tie up loose ends? Also, most construction owners got to where they are from working their @sses off within their trade. And only after years of doing so, and mastering every aspect of the trade, are they competent enough to make managerial and ownership decisions.Furthermore, how do you know they had degrees in Construction Management. Not every owner of a construction company went to college in order to become an owner. My father works for a construction company where the owner, who is now worth hundreds of millions of dollars, started out as a grunt operating ! a bulldozer.
