thesis statement for higher education research paper?

Ninfa Aronica: The thesis you presented is actually two arguments in one. You have to choose which side you are going to prove in your paper. It is either, Higher Education is worth the price or the argument is Higher Education is not worth the price. Just make sure for whichever argument/thesis you choose to write, to give reasons as to why your thesis is right. You can always provide a counter-example/argument later in your paper i.e. Some exemplary figures think Higher Education is not worth the price for these reasons - giving an alternate argument that goes against yours gives better balance to your perspective and provides a ground for you to prove that counter-argument false....Show more

Cletus Crotts: A thesis statement is meant to be a concise solution to the addressed problem of an essay, or; if you are doing an essay describing something (I.e. a character description essay), it is meant to list the aspects you will cover in the essay of the character or t! opic. For you, that's not the case. I would recommend first not introducing a problem within the thesis statement, so take out anything negative. Just introduce the problem at hand, which would be higher education, and then give a basic positive thing about it, and maybe move on in the next sentence or paragraph to explain some cons, perhaps even in the same sentence depending on whether you are doing a description essay, which you again are not. A good example would be;"High education has it's advantages and disadvantages, as many things do, however if you could choose any education with granted access to them all, many and most people would go with the higher education." Then you would continue with "This is because..." You could even propose the main aspects you will talk about within the essay afterwards, it's primarily for clarity but your teacher will really appreciate it, especially if you use one-word descriptors for it, for example: instead of "I will be covering t! he following 3 aspects; how higher education can affect the pe! ople within it, success rate, and..." you should write "I will be covering the following 3 aspects of higher education, it's overall EFFECTIVENESS, it's overall BENEFITS, and... (Whatever else you choose.)" Good luck with it. :3...Show more
