Vernon Martorana: as the previous poster stated, you need to look up the requrements for your state at http://nrckids.org/STATES/states.htm . this will tell you what you need to have to work in a daycare center or preschool.i suggest you apply for a job at a daycare center to get an idea of what it's really like to work with kids. most of them start hiring this time of year for summer work.good luck...Show more

Dick Ovdenk: im 16 and i have a job at a preschool...all you have to do is go on craigslist.com and look in your area for local job listings under childcare. i emailed this lady and got the job the day after. just be expiranced and babysit, take cpr courses, childhood development courses, and anything else that could help.

Cassondra Vanholland: My daughter took 2 years of preschool and is now in Kindergarten. She became potty experienced to the factor that she nonetheless mandatory a pullup to sleep, yet they broke her of that the 2d day. yet there! became some youngsters that weren't potty experienced in any respect and have been nonetheless in diapers.

Hal Palowoda: Call some local preschool programs and ask if you can volunteer in their classrooms. Find out what the requirements are for employment. In my state, most programs will require a potential employee to have a certain number of hours of experience working with young children. Volunteering is a great way to start building up those hours, and if you are consistent, dependable, and good with the kids, you may get an aide position out of volunteering. Be sure to keep track of your volunteer hours. You may want to ask the teachers you work with to sign a log book to help you document your hours, and you may want to ask the teachers for a letter of recommendation also. You're probably going to need to obtain clearances to do this, so make some phone calls right away and ask how to get your clearances. Most programs will probably let you start volunte! ering right away if they know you are applying for those clear! ances. I know you would be welcome in my classroom! Don't over-look Head Start programs, because they almost always welcome volunteers....Show more

Coleman Coscia: at 17 you could get an teachers aid position. you couldn't be left alone with children until you are 18, CPR certified an have 12 ECE units(at least in CA) to teach preschool in CA you need at least a AA degree(head teacher) around 2 years at a junior college would do it. i would suggest speaking to a counsel at you local college on what classes you need to take. generally some general ed units such as math, english, science etc. and human development classes

Tracy Huesso: Check the requirements for where you live. You can probably teach at a child care center with a high school diploma, but if you get an Associates degree (one or two years), you could get a better job. If you check with a local preschool, they can tell you what their specific education requirements are. It would also be good, if yo! u have the chance, to spend a day shadowing a preschool teacher to see just what a day is like to see if that's really what you want to do. (It also ggives the center a preview of you - and could give you an inside shot at a job later.)...Show more
