General Green Anole Care?

Len Dalba: There are plenty of care sheets out on the web if you're willing to look. A 15 gl. should be fine for one animal although it does depend upon the species of anole. They require high humidity though so if you have a screen lid you'll need to cover it to avoid it being too dry. They eat crickets readily...at least my wild caught one that I kept thru the winter did and anole food. Dust crickets with calcium and vitamins before feeding and keep them with a good quality cricket food that provides vitamins and water to the crickets so that they are gut loaded before feeding. UVA/B is required to avoid metabolic bone disease in the lizard. They are not a lizard you can handle being quite skittish and nervous. They are a neat lizard to watch though and they are fun to observe feeding. I enjoyed keeping mine thru the winter and then I turned her loose back into the wild once spring got here. They are relatively easy to keep though....Show more
