Eulah Hugill: Many old style laundry soaps had ingredients that harmed the water, in essence poisoning it. Newer soaps are less harmful, but the added 'fragrances' have yet to prove themselves harm free. Many allergies come from continuous contact such as clothes or bedding washed/dried with certain products. Soaps can cause scum (residue) in washers, dryers, in sinks, and certainly in waste water treatment systems. That in turn harms birds, plants , can sterilize soil, etc. The production of some products in factories, shipping methods, packaging etc, all contribute to pollution at record highs. Few places recycle plastic containers, so they end up at landfills. Best solution: simple laundry soaps in dry form, packaged in cardboard paper boxes of recycled cardboard.
