Morris Cuomo: Who CARES?!?Why should a politician tax ALL citizens for subsidies to go into rich companies. Let's do AWAY with corporate WELFARE!When we stop FIGHTING wars for oil, the prices will rise, and there will be plenty of motivation for companies to shell out their own funds to bring electric cars to market. Why should we be taxed by the government for this research, while at the same time we are taxed to subsidize wars for oil and competing technologies?Central economic planning does NOT work! Innovations arise by individuals, not through politicians....Show more
Karie Mavle: I'm sure the Green party candidates have an opinion on electric vehicles and other alternative fuel-based transportation. The Green platform can be found at www.gp.orgAs for the idea that they don't go far, well they go far enough for many people who are commuters and have been used for years and years in Europe as well as the U.S. See "Who Killed the Electric Car" for proof. Obvio! usly if you're commuting hundreds of miles, you are stuck paying for gas, unless you have available biodiesel. Also, the conventional lead battery used in every car in this nation ISN'T toxic??? At least the special batteries being developed for hybrids and electrics are so specialized and valuable you can be damn sure they'll be recycled and collected in a manner that will not involve their toxics leaching into landfills and underlying aquifers. Today's lead car batteries litter the landscape in some places! That's NOT a better alternative. And finally, it isn't necessary that batteries be charged using a dirty coal or nuclear plant. Many places are developing solar recharge parking stations for autos that can trickle charge during the day while people are working using solar panels and some people have their own solar at home to do just this. You might consider this expensive or too alternative but that's probably what people thought of furnaces too when we all just ! heated with fireplaces and cast iron stoves!...Show more
Kris Otuafi: They still don't work that well. I need something that can go 200 - 400 miles a day for work.
Cole Desher: I don't know if he's mention electric vehicles specifically, but I do think John Edwards has the best plans for combatting climate change and bringing about energy independence.
Cortez Badolato: I dont think so
Tosha Tawney: None that I'm aware of. And if they're smart they won't! Not a good idea, these electrics. the batteries cause way more pollution than what they "save" by not burning fossil fuel. And always remember: they are re-charged from your big, dirty, smelly, fossil fuel burning power plant!
